When New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter shared his unique experience of playing against the Bronx Bombers
In March 2009, one day before the onset of the 2009 WBC, New York Yankees legend and HOFer Derek Jeter shared a unique experience of playing against the Bronx Bombers. It was during an exhibition contest between Team USA and the New York Yankees that took place on March 3, 2009, at Steinbrenner Field. It was the only time Derek played against the Bronx Bombers.
"It was strange running to the other dugout. I almost ran to the other side a couple times," said Jeter explaining his feelings in ESPN’s game recap.

Like Derek Jeter, Jose Altuve faced Houston Astros in an exhibition game
Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve hails from Venezuela and is happily repping his native nation at the 2023 World Baseball Classic. For the first time in his illustrious MLB career, Jose suited up to face his beloved team and reigning World Series champion, the Houston Astros, for an exhibition game on March 8.
However, the scenario was tricky for him to play against the franchise he has helped clinch two World Series titles (2017 and 2022).
"It was awkward. But obviously, I was excited, and I think it was a great game," said Altuve with a hearty laughter.
