When New York Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe celebrated Derek Jeter as a once-in-a-lifetime player
New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter was a beloved MLB player and was praised by many, including Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe.
Volpe once commended Jeter's unmatched legacy in the Bronx and celebrated the All-Star as a once-in-a-lifetime player.
As reported by NJ.com, in 2022, Volpe said:
"I don’t know if they grew up Yankees fans like me, but there never will be another Jeter. It obviously means a lot that they’d say something like that, but I’m just trying to be the best version of myself, and I don’t think anyone around here can compare to what Jeter did.”
In the first round of the 2019 MLB draft, the Yankees selected Volpe with the 30th overall pick. He made his debut with the Pulaski Yankees of the Rookie Advanced Appalachian League and received a $2.7 million bonus.

He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2020. He garnered 396 out of 397 votes (99.75%), the second-highest percentage in MLB history (behind his teammate Mariano Rivera), and the highest by a position player.
