When Steve Garvey's ex-wife talked about her failed marriage with former LA Dodgers star
Former Los Angeles Dodgers star Steve Garvey and his first wife, Cyndy Garvey, were a power couple in the late 1970s, with a perfect image in the media.
In 1980, Inside Sports magazine hired independent journalist Pat Jordan to do an exclusive piece about the couple and their picture-perfect life. The next thing the MLB world remembers is the infamous story "Trouble in Paradise," which was published in Inside Sports in July 1980 and created a massive stir.
The controversial news piece was based on audiotapes recorded by Pat during a conversation with Cyndy in which she expressed her discontent with the marriage and her desire for an affair. She said:
"If I can tolerate it, if I can live within the confines of this marriage, I'll stay. I'm not wanting for anything. It's convenient. No, it's not even that. That's not enough. Maybe some miracle happens to help you make up your mind?
"Sometimes I wonder if I met someone would a relationship develop. I haven't had any affairs yet, but I wonder what it would be like. Someone who is his own man."
After the truth was out in public, Steve and Cyndy Garvey sued Inside Sports and Pat Jordan for the invasion of their privacy. Later, the legalities were settled out of court.
Nevertheless, the piece put a black spot on Garvey's flawless reputation. Three years later, in 1983, Steve and Cyndy got divorced.

Seven years later, Cyndy admitted to having an affair prior to the interview in her 1989 biography, "The Hidden Life of Cyndy Garvey." The ex-wife of former Dodgers star Steve Harvey further claimed that she was unaware that Jordan was recording their conversation because she focused on speaking her mind after holding back for years.
Steve Garvey fathered multiple children after his divorce from Cyndy Garvey
Former Los Angeles Dodgers star Steve Garvey's life turned upside down when two women, Cheryl Moulton and Rebecka Mendenhall, sued Steve, claiming he was the father of their children in the span of one year.
Garvey went on to describe his life as a "midlife crisis" due to his severe legal problems.
After the dust settled, Steve Garvey went on to marry Candace Thomas on Feb. 18, 1989. They share three children: Sean, Olivia and Ryan Garvey. The pair is going strong even today.
