Yankees vs. Orioles: Game 2 prediction, odds and picks - July 13, MLB 2024
The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles will enter Game 2 at Camden Yards as they continue their intense series. Game 1 was an outstanding performance with Gerrit Cole on the mound. Cole dominated for the Yanks with his fastball and helped them take the lead.
Aaron Judge smashed his 33rd home run to help NY win 4-1, however, the intense bench-clearing incident was the spotlight of the game. The Yanks will turn in Luis Gil in Game 2 to start against the Orioles. Gil has been through a rough patch, but his last outing was not too bad, allowing only one run in 6.2 innings pitched in the 3-0 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
The Orioles have the home-field advantage and will hope to make use of that in Game 2. Despite the loss on Friday, Baltimore is top of the AL East. Brandon Hyde and his squad will do anything to remain there as the Yanks trail by just one game.
Grayson Rodriguez will be sent to the mound in Game 2 as he hopes to pick up some strikeouts. Rodriguez has an 11-3 record with a 3.52 ERA this season. Gil is slightly better with a 3.27 ERA, and while Gil has 111 strikeouts on the year, Rodriguez has 105.

Yankees vs.Orioles: Prediction
Gerrit Cole was the player of Game 1 and the Yanks' offense managed to pull through. Game 2 will not be the same with Rodriguez on the mound. Gil might last for 5-plus innings, but the Yanks offense has not been consistent in the past few games.
Gil suffered a miserable outing in the 17-5 loss against the Orioles, his last start against them, allowing 7 runs in 1.1 innings pitched. With Judge and Soto carrying the weight for the team, the Bronx Bombers will again look to them to push them past Baltimore but this feels like a tough game for NY.
The absence of players like Giancarlo Stanton makes things worse at the clean-up spot, however, rookies like Ben Rice are performing well. The Orioles have key players such as Gunnar Henderson to help them from the plate and should take the win here.
Prediction: Baltimore Orioles -1.5 (-140)
