2013 NBA Draft: Top 10 picks
The 2013 draft was regarded as one of the worst drafts in NBA history. Since the year is over we will be looking at how well all the teams did with their picks and then choose the player who should have been drafted.
1. Cleveland Cavaliers – Anthony Bennett
Some people still think that Anthony Bennett can turn things around, but everyone can agree that his rookie season was terrible. He averaged 4.2 points, 0.3 assists and 3 rebound a game.
Grade: D-
Who they should have gone for : Giannis Antetokounmpo SF (drafted 15th by Bucks)
2. Orlando Magic – Victor Oladipo
Victor was a nominee for rookie of the year, he definitely showed some all-star potential and he could turn into a great player. He was selected to the 2013 All-NBA rookie first team, so it was a good pick for the magic.
Grade: B+
Who they should have gone for : Michael Carter Williams PG (drafted 11th by 76ers)
3. Washington Wizards – Otto Porter
This draft was a very weak draft, and two out of the first 3 picks averaged less than 5 points a game. Otto Porter is a draft bust, nobody is saying that he can turn things around after a dreadful rookie campaign. He averaged 2.1 points, 0.3 assists, and 1.5 rebounds.
Grade: F
Who they should have gone for: Nerlens Noel (drafted 6th by Pelicans traded to 76ers)
4. Charlotte Bobcats – Cody Zeller
It was not a good rookie year for Cody Zeller because of Al Jefferson, but for a fourth pick his averages were terrible. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. He could eventually become a good player in the future .
Grade: C-
Who they should have gone for: Tim Hardaway Jr. (drafted 24th to New York)
5. Phoenix Suns – Alex Len
Not a great pick for the suns. Alex averaged 2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and had a player efficiency rating of 7.32 which is pathetic.
Grade: F
Who they should have gone for: Mason Plumlee (drafted 22nd by Brooklynn)
6.New Orleans Pelicans traded Philadelphia – Nerlens Noel
Nerlens Noel has yet to play his first game in the NBA, many people believed that he would go first overall. From his college highlights, we know that Nerlens will definitely become a strong force in the NBA.
Grade: TBD
Who they should have gone for: TBD
7. Sacramento Kings – Ben Mclemore
Ben did not have a good rookie campaign but when you compare his numbers to the other rookies, he looks much better. This year his numbers will be reduced because of Sacramento drafting Nik Stauskas, but Mclemore does have the potential to become a quality starter for an NBA team.
Grade: C
Who they should have gone for: Ben Mclemore or Tim Hardaway Jr. (drafted 24th by the Knicks)
8.Detroit Pistons – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Kentavious had difficulties putting the ball in the basket during his rookie year. He definitely will not be the player to turn things around for the Detroit Pistons.
Grade: D
Who they should have gone for: Tim Hardaway Jr. (drafted 24th by the Knicks)
9.Minnesota traded to Utah – Trey Burke
This is one of the best picks in the draft. Trey had a great rookie year, and was one of the nominees for rookie of the year. Now that Utah has just drafted Dante, the Jazz could have one of the best backcourts in the NBA in a couple of years down the road.
Grade: B
Who they should have gone for: Trey Burke or Michael Carter Williams (drafted 11th by 76ers)
10.Portland Trail Blazzers – C.J Mccolum
C.J Mccollum also did not have a good rookie year. He will not become a reliable scorer, but he eventually become a good bench for the team.
Grade: D
Who they should have gone for: Giannis Antetokounmpo SF (drafted 15th by Bucks)
