2024-25 NBA Season Predictions: 5 players who could lead league in 3-point makes
The NBA has increasingly emphasized 3-point shooting in recent seasons. Last season, teams averaged 35.1 3-point attempts per game, marking the second-highest in league history, just below the 35.2 attempts per game set in 2021-22. This stat remains one of the most exciting trends to watch in the upcoming season.
After releasing a list of five teams that could lead the league in 3-point shooting, let’s now examine five players who could lead the NBA in 3-point makes this season.
For reference, last season's leader made 357 3-pointers — expect to see his name on this list.
5 players predicted to make the most 3-pointers in the 2024-25 NBA season
#5. Bradley Beal
Bradley Beal was often injured last season, appearing in only 53 games, but he made 43.0% of his 3-point attempts, hitting 101 of 235 shots.
New Phoenix Suns coach Mike Budenholzer is known for his offensive schemes, and Beal’s historically strong 3-point shooting (37.5% career average) could make him a key figure alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
If Beal stays healthy, he could easily be among the top 3-point shooters this season.
#4. Klay Thompson
Some believe Klay Thompson’s best days are behind him after his final season with Golden State, where he shot 38.7% from deep, his second-lowest percentage in his career. Despite this, Thompson still ranked fourth in the NBA with 268 made 3-pointers on 692 attempts.
Now with the Dallas Mavericks, and paired with elite playmakers like Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, Thompson could play more minutes and improve his numbers from last season.
#3. Paul George
Paul George was fifth in 3-point makes last season, sinking 243 of 588 attempts while shooting 41.3% for the LA Clippers. Now on an offensively stacked Philadelphia 76ers with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, George is expected to be one of their primary threats from the perimeter.
#2. Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic is known for his high-volume shooting. Last season, he attempted 744 3-pointers, making 284 of them for a 38.2% clip.
As the focal point of the Dallas Mavericks’ offense, Doncic will likely maintain a similar role this season, potentially benefiting from a more spaced floor with the addition of Klay Thompson.
#1. Steph Curry
Last season's 3-point leader, Steph Curry, made 357 triples on a league-leading 876 attempts, shooting an efficient 40.8%.
The Golden State Warriors superstar has expressed his desire for another NBA championship, and with a potentially larger offensive role after the departures of Thompson and Chris Paul, Curry could have another MVP-caliber season and surpass his previous 3-point numbers.
