3 players Brooklyn Nets should target to improve their roster
The Brooklyn Nets are thriving off of the dominance of their superstar players Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Thanks to the duo's impeccable performances this season, the Nets are sitting comfortably on the second seed in the East. However, the organization needs to realize soon that they're only tasting success this year because of them.
Kevin Durant is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks. Kyrie Irving, meanwhile, is averaging 26 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
Unfortunately, Durant is out due to an MCL sprain in his right knee. With Irving being the only superstar in the team, the Brooklyn Nets will now be tested in the next couple of weeks.
So far, the Nets are off to a bad start without KD in their lineup as they lost to the Boston Celtics 109-98 on Thursday night. If they continue to lose their upcoming games while waiting for Durant's return, it'll only prove that Brooklyn needs a better roster.
With that said, let's take a look at the three players the Brooklyn Nets should pursue.
Top 3 NBA Players the Brooklyn Nets should acquire
#1 Deandre Ayton
Deandre Ayton has played for the Phoenix Suns for five seasons now. Unfortunately, the Suns' season isn't looking too good as both Devin Booker and Chris Paul are out due to injuries. Then there's the fact that Ayton is no longer happy with his situation in Phoenix.
Ayton isn't an All-Star yet, but there's untapped potential waiting to be released in the future. He's a traditional center who can efficiently score inside and can secure the boards. If the Brooklyn Nets decide to trade for him, it could benefit both parties. Deandre Ayton gets what he wants, while the Nets get what they need.
#2 Kyle Kuzma
Kyle Kuzma is finally looking like the star he was always meant to be now that he's in Washington. Kuzma is currently averaging 21.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. While it's great that he's finally the star of his team, his talents can be utilized in a contending team. It wouldn't be the first time Kuzma has teamed up with a couple of superstars. He could fit well with the Brooklyn Nets.
#3 Jalen Green
If the Brooklyn Nets want to pursue a much younger talent, Jalen Green might be their guy. Green is currently playing for the Houston Rockets, who have the worst record in the NBA this season. He is averaging 21.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. The ability to score effectively is something the Nets lack outside of their superstar duo.
