5 most anticipated Christmas Day sneakers for 2024

The Christmas season is often associated with giving, and what better way to celebrate the holidays than unwrapping new sneakers? The basketball shoe landscape awaits new drops every year during the Yuletide season, as some of the biggest stars of the NBA will be in action in its Christmas Day games slate.

From the likes of Anthony Edwards and Devin Booker to Kevin Durant and LeBron James, here are five of the most anticipated Christmas day sneakers this year.

5 most anticipated Christmas Day sneakers for 2024

Adidas AE 1 Low “Christmas”

Anthony Edwards’ sneaker line has been one of the fastest-rising in the world this year. The AE 1 has had a lot of success and Adidas is looking to capitalize on the hype to end the year with the drop of a new holiday-themed colorway.

The shoes are expected to have icy blue colors on top of a winter-like design. The look will also pay homage to the cold nature of Christmas in Minnesota, where Edwards has become a star with the Timberwolves.

Nike Book 1 “Nightmare Before Christmas”

Just like Edwards’ AE 1, Devin Booker’s Book 1 line has caught the attention of sneaker geeks this year for its simplicity and appeal. Dropping less than a week before Christmas, Booker’s “Nightmare Before Christmas” is set to be a mesh of Halloween and the Holidays.

The sneaker drew inspiration from a movie of the same name, highlighting a crisp white colorway on top of a glow-in-the-dark sole. It also features a bone-line stitch pattern to add a spooky dynamic to the shoe.

Nike Ja 2 “Christmas”

Ja Morant’s sneaker line is also trying to tap into the Christmas spirit with the launch of the Ja 2 "Christmas" colorway. It will have a sleek look, highlighted by its silver and grey colors on top of intricate snowflake details that cover the body of the shoe. The sole will also have a hint of blue, mimicking the snowy atmosphere of the holidays.

Nike KD 17 “Christmas”

Kevin Durant will also be incorporating ice as the theme for his shoes’ Christmas showcase this year. The Nike KD17 will have an icy feature all over the shoes, showcasing Christmas’ winter feel. The white in its sole adds a clean look to the sneaker.

The shoes will have a unique aesthetic, meshing together shades of blue, silver and white. Durant’s "Easy Money" logo will also be on the tongue of the shoe.

Nike LeBron 22 “The Gift”

Perhaps the most anticipated Christmas shoe release this year is LeBron James’ Nike LeBron 22 "The Gift." The distinctive shoe will have a new colorway, as the mismatched pairs will be in "Solar Red" and "Vapour Green" silhouettes.

The colors of each shoe will be inverted from each other, while the tongue, lace and swoosh provide a festive dynamic. It is expected to be an eye-catcher in the holiday season as James plays a record 19th Christmas Day game.
