5 best NBA free agents after 2024 Season ft. Paul George
The NBA’s free agency season is right around the corner. As teams jockey to improve their roster, free agents are looking to cash in on their value and find new homes for their talents.
This year’s free agency class has some of the biggest names in the league. From veterans looking to snag perhaps their last big payday to upcoming stars who is eager to be a part of a championship team, free agency is full of talents raring to see where they belong in the league.
With star power available from across the board, let’s take a look at some of the best free agents ahead of the 2024–2025 season.
Top 5 Free Agents after the 2024 season
5. OG Anunoby
OG Anunoby’s 3-and-D archetype has been one of the most sought-after, as was seen when he lifted the New York Knicks to a second-round finish in the playoffs.
During his tenure with the Toronto Raptors and the Knicks in the regular season, the six-foot-seven forward averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Anunoby had a hamstring injury in the second round against the Indiana Pacers, so injuries remain a concern for him.
4. James Harden
James Harden remained a reliable point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers this season, averaging 16.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game to lead the fourth-seeded Clippers.
The former league MVP will turn 35 next season, an age where player value starts to decline. With the Clippers’ future remaining in limbo, Harden may be worth getting for any veteran team looking for a stabilizer at the point guard position.
3. Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson has been a lifer of the Golden State Warriors since being drafted in 2011. That could change, however, in free agency, as he may see greener pastures outside of San Francisco.
Thompson averaged 17.9 points on 38.7% shooting from the three-point line, but his final game last season was most remembered by fans as he dropped zero points in their final play-in game versus the Sacramento Kings.
At 35, Thompson proved he can still make his outside shots. In the right situation, Thompson can always be a valuable contributor to any team.
2. Paul George
If Paul Goerge declines his $48.7 million player option, he would be one of the most coveted free agents this offseason. George, with his two-way brilliance, can be a huge boost for any team contending for a title in the next few years.
George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Clippers, which got bounced in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks. After playing five years with the Clippers, George may look for another team to ultimately hunt for his first-ever NBA championship.
1. LeBron James
Needless to say, LeBron James is one of the biggest stars in the NBA. Even at 39 years old, James was a reliable figure for the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists.
If James does not pick up his player option in the next few days, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer could be on the verge of his next team, especially considering the arrival of his son Bronny in the NBA draft.
