5 NBA players with most losses on opening night
It's important for NBA teams to get a good start for the season, and that's why they try to set the tone on opening night.
The 2023-24 NBA season has started, and there were some star players who lost their first game of the season.
The NBA opened their new season with the Denver Nuggets getting their 2023 championship rings and taking on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Later that night, the Golden State Warriors lost against the visiting Phoenix Suns.
NBA players with the worst luck on the first day of the regular season
In the two games of the NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers ended up on the losing side.
While both teams are seen as legitimate title contenders, loaded with winners, but opening night has not been their best day.
Here are five NBA players who have had the most losses on opening night:
#5 Shawn Marion - 10
'The Matrix' has played 16 seasons in the league and has had 10 opening game losses.
Shawn Marion has a championship to boast and a good basketball career overall, but opening night has been more of a miss than a hit for him.
He has played for five different teams: Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.
#2 Andre Miller - 10
Known as a crafty point guard, Andre Miller spent his career as a journeyman, with most recognizable stints with the Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.
He played 17 NBA seasons and had 10 opening day losses.
#3 Elton Brand - 11 games
The former 1999 first overall pick from the Duke Blue Devils had a fair basketball career, being a paint beast, but he didn't have the luxury of playing on good teams most of his career.
As part of the post-Micahel Jordan Chicago Bulls and mediocre LA Clippers, the opening-day losses have been natural for Elton Brand in his 17 seasons in the league.
#4 Jason Terry - 13
'The Jet' has been an iron man in the league playing for 19 seasons and has a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 to boast.
Opening day has been like a bane for Jason Terry, though, as he won only six of 19 games. Nonetheless, it's only a blemish of Terry's resume, as he was a winner even in college.
#5 LeBron James - 14 games
Of all the records of LeBron James' illustrious career, this has got to be one of the worst ones.
In 21 seasons in the league, he has broken numerous records, from positive ones to negative ones.
After the opening day 119-107 loss of the Lakers against the Nuggets, James has only won five of his 19 first regular season games.
