5 NBA teams interested in landing Tyler Herro for 2023-24 season amid Damian Lillard trade rumors

Sweet-shooting guard Tyler Herro is expected to be on the move amid trade rumors sending All-Star Damian Lillard from Portland to Miami. But the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year need not fret as reportedly multiple teams are keen on getting his services if the Heat do decide to let him go.

Here are five teams interested in getting their hands on Herro:

5 teams keen on having Tyler Herro in their fold

#1. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have emerged as a potential team to land Kentucky alum Herro by way of a trade.

To make it happen, Brooklyn will act as the third team for the Heat and Trail Blazers as Lillard made it known that he only wants to play for Miami. The thing though, Portland is not interested in Herro, making a straight-up deal between the two teams difficult.

Brooklyn offloaded a number of contracts this offseason, namely that of Joe Harris, Patty Mills and Seth Curry, leaving the team below cap space and able to absorb a player like Herro in a deal.

In Tyler Herro, the Nets get a certified bucket-getter who can provide the spacing that they need for a more fluid attack. He, too, brings big-game experience, having done well in the playoffs.

#2. Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets are also reportedly interested in the Wisconsin native and a willing third team in a Heat-Trail Blazers deal.

Charlotte has veteran pieces with salaries that can match the $27 million that Herro will be getting for the upcoming season, which could be enough to entice the parties involved to thumb up a trade agreement.

The Hornets could use a young veteran like Herro to run alongside their resident star LaMelo Ball and possibly elevate the squad to the next level.

#3. Utah Jazz

Utah is another team said to be willing to make a trade for Tyler Herro and facilitate the Lillard deal with the Heat and Blazers.

The Jazz are reportedly willing to throw in key pieces like All-Star Lauri Markkanen and Simone Fontecchio for an appealing package involving Herro.

The team from Salt Lake City could surely use a player like him, who averaged 20.1 points and career-highs of 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last year, after losing All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell before the 2022-23 season.

#4. Chicago Bulls

The Bulls, for their part, are not often mentioned in trade deals for Herro but could be a dark horse in it.

He has a good relationship with Chicago All-Star Zach Lavine, who he had some training sessions with this offseason, which could possibly lead to Chi-Town making a go for him involving Miami and Portland.

Tyler Herro running alongside Lavine and another All-Star in DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls could be explosive and dangerous in the upcoming season.

#5. Dallas Mavericks

Like Chicago, the Mavericks are not too prominent in trade negotiations involving Herro but are said to be a willing party if the right deal comes along.

While limited on defense, Herro’s shot-making could be valuable for Dallas to offload some work on offense from All-Stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the team’s top two scorers.

Last season, Tyler Herro posted solid shooting numbers of 43.9% from the field and 37.8% from beyond the arc.
