Allen Iverson & Reebok To Release Legacy Shoe Collection
What's the story?
Allen Iverson and Reebok are reviving his signature shoes as a part of the Reebok I3 Legacy Collection.
In case you didn't know...
Iverson signed a lifetime deal with Reebok in 2001. His signature sneaker line makes up the second longest-running basketball line in history, which started with the iconic Question in 1996 and ran consecutively until 2009's Answer 13.
The heart of the matter...
Reebok and Allen Iverson are bringing back all of his classic sneakers as part of the "Reebok I3 Legacy Collection" which will include favorites such as the Answer IV, Answer V, and of course, the Reebok Question. He took to Instagram to announce the resurrection on Thursday through a series of posts, including one in front of a wall of retro Iverson's, another with Reebok's Vice President, Todd Krinsky, and another along with other members of the design team.
It was just a matter of time as in 2016 Allen Iverson was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Shaquille O'Neal. While Iverson was never able to capture an NBA title, he did win an MVP, four scoring titles made 11 All-Star Appearances and took the Philadelphia 76ers to an NBA final.
The revival of his classic sneakers has been the latest update from Iverson after his inclusion into the Hall of Fame.
What's next?
There has been no word until now about the collection and what it will include. The release of the shoes also remains uncertain.
Author's take
In the era of Nike, Jordans, Under Armour and Addidas, Reebok doesn't have many players signed with them, let alone any big names. This re-launch of the Allen Iverson sneakers seems like an effort on the part of Reebok to use the remaining star names that they have to promote their brand.
