Amazon NBA Deal: Complete broadcasting details, streaming info, contract duration and more
The NBA announced that contrary to recent reports, Warner Bros. Discovery didn't match the media terms that Amazon Prime Video offered, meaning they have picked the latter's offer to broadcast games from the 2025-26 season.
"Warner Bros. Discovery's most recent proposal did not match the terms of Amazon Prime Video's offer and, therefore, we have entered into a long-term arrangement with Amazon.
"Throughout these negotiations, our primary objective has been to maximize the reach and accessibility of our games for our fans. Our new arrangement with Amazon supports this goal by complementing the broadcast, cable and streaming packages that are already part of our new Disney and NBCUniversal arrangements.
"All three partners have also committed substantial resources to promote the league and enhance the fan experience. We are grateful to Turner Sports for its award-winning coverage of the NBA and look forward to another season of the NBA on TNT," their statement read.
Who will broadcast the NBA after new TV deals?
This decision means that the league renewed its relationship with The Walt Disney Company while agreeing to new deals with NBCUniversal and Amazon. ABC/ESPN, NBC/Peacock and Prime Video will be in charge of telecasting games from the 2025-26 season.
The NBA App will work as a universal access point that will direct fans to games broadcast on Disney, NBCU and Amazon streaming platforms.
Disney (ABC/ESPN) will have a total of 80 regular-season games per season, sharing 20 on ABC and up to 60 matches on ESPN. They will keep the rights to telecast all five Christmas Day games while ABC will retain exclusive rights to broadcast the NBA Finals.
NBCU will have up to 100 regular-season games per season, including a double-header each Monday night. Amazon will have 66 regular-season games on Prime Video, and starting next January, they will have doubleheaders on Thursdays.
In six of those 11 years, Amazon will broadcast the Finals while NBC will become the home of the All-Star Game. They will rotate the broadcast of one of the Conference finals, starting in the 2026-27 season.
What's the duration of the new deals?
The three companies will have the rights deals for 11 years, starting in the 2025-26 campaign. The new deals will run through the 2035-36 campaign. This means TNT will have its last season telecasting the association in the 2024-25 campaign, which is a big blow for plenty of fans around the world.
