Anthony Davis' unibrow has been a part of his iconic appearance, but will he ever get rid of it?
When Anthony Davis first made his way through the ranks, one thing stood out about him. Aside from him having the potential to be a generational talent in the NBA, his appearance was a major talking point.
During his lone season at Kentucky, all anyone could talk about was Anthony Davis and his unibrow. It's a look that you don't see very often, and the college star fully embraced it.
All these years later, AD has never shied away from "The Brow." It quickly became his nickname in the league. Now 10 years into his NBA career, the LA Lakers All-Star still sports the look that made him stand out. At this point, it's fair to assume that he is never going to get rid of it.
Anthony Davis turned his look into a brand
Like other top athletes, Anthony Davis tried to maximize his earning potential by building a brand outside of basketball. Right before he was drafted first overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2012, he decided to capitalize on his look.
In the weeks leading up to the draft, AD trademarked the phrases "raise the brow" and "fear the brow." He did this so that nobody could come along later and try to recreate his iconic look.
On top of trademarking the look, Davis has also done a great job marketing it. He has been in countless commercials where his unibrow is the focal point. One even involved James Harden putting on "The Brow" as a disguise.
In 2018, Davis decided to play a prank on the basketball community. He posted a video online of him shaving his unibrow that quickly went viral. It was later discovered that he did it as a joke for April Fool's Day.
Fans have their fun with "The Brow"
The craziest thing about Davis' adventure with this look is putting up with fan feedback. Many have poked fun at his unique appearance.
For what it's worth, some fans did buy into "The Brow" during the early years of his career. One crazy Pelicans fan even shaved his chest hair to match AD's unibrow.
Most of the time, basketball fans were targeting the unibrow to poke fun at the All-Star big man.
Aside from all the jokes at his iconic facial hair, Davis has carved out a successful career for himself in the NBA. He is an eight-time All-Star, one-time champion and four-time All-NBA selection and was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
