Are leaked images of Anthony Edwards' Adidas 'AE 2' signature shoe legitimate? Examining viral speculations

Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards is one of the hottest stars in the league right now. Fans await new merchandise drops from the star, as it has been a long time since his first sneaker line was launched.

Since the last few weeks, an image of a pair of unreleased sneakers has been making the rounds on social media. It's rumored to be the leaked first look at the upcoming second installation of sports giant Adidas' AE shoe line.

The photo is being circulated on major social media platforms as the 'first look' at the AE2 signature shoes. However, there doesn't seem to be truth behind these claims. Nice Kicks, an e-commerce and media company built around the sneaker culture, stepped forward to bust claims about the rumored AE 2 sneakers.

They posted the circulating photo on X and posted that the information being spread is false.

"It is in fact NOT the upcoming adidas AE 2."

The media outlet confirmed that the photo of AE 2s is fake and is being used to misguide sneaker fans waiting for a new Anthony Edwards shoe line.

Anthony Edwards debuts new AE1 sneakers

During Game 6 of the Minnesota Timberwolves vs the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals, Anthony Edwards debuted the latest edition of his AE1 sneaker line. The new edition is called 'Ascent' and is from the 'MX Grey' AE1 low collection. The new look goes well with Ant-Man's electric personality and explosive playstyle.

The new sneakers are designed with Edwards' energetic playstyle, solidifying his future relationship with Adidas. It has a black mesh upper with marble design TPU panels on the side for optimum airflow and ventilation.

The molded back features the signature Adidas three-stripe logo while the tongue of the sneaker features a sewn tag.

The TPU encased midsole comes with the Jet Boost technology providing elite level performance and high stability. A strong grip on the court comes from the full-length torsional plate and durable herringbone-traction rubber in the outsole of the sneakers.

Edwards played in these new sneakers on Thursday but didn't reveal a release date for them. Hence, the 'Ascent' colorway of the AE1 low sneakers is yet to be made available to the public.
