Atlanta Hawks Preview
The Atlanta Hawks are a young team with some good young talent. On Saturday night, however, they got beaten badly by 49 points, against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Hawks allowed three Clippers’ players to score 20-plus points, led by Paul George with 37.
The Clippers shot 51 percent from three-point range and 53 percent overall. The Hawks on the other hand had a bad shooting night as they were just 35 percent from three-point range and 37.8 percent overall.
Sophomore Trae Young had 20 points but no other Hawks player scored more than 12 on Saturday.
Key Player – Trae Young
The Atlanta Hawks have young and talented players and are led by their second-year star Trae Young. After a strong rookie season in 2018-19, Young is following that up with great numbers again.
At the moment, he is averaging 27.3 points on about 20 field goal attempts and 9.1 assists per game, while shooting 38.6 percent from the three-point line.
Young has an explosive first step and can get to the rim at will. This season he has also been showing terrific range with his three-point shooting.
Hawks predicted lineup
Trae Young, Cam Reddish, Damian Jones, Jabari Parker, De’Andre Hunter
Los Angeles Lakers Preview
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a return to the playoffs and possibly a championship run in 2020. They have started this season 10-2 with their rebuilt roster.
The Lakers are 6-1 at home and 9-1 in their last 10 games. Friday night the Lakers managed to squeak past the Sacramento Kings 99-97. LeBron James had 29 points and 11 assists for a double-double in that win.
Key Player – LeBron James
The remade Lakers roster has given LeBron new life after a miserable 2019-20 season in which a groin pull injury and the team missing the playoffs frustrated the “king” of basketball.
He is back in the conversation as a league MVP for 2020, averaging a double-double with 24.3 points and 11.1 assists per game. Friday night, in 39 minutes against the Kings, LeBron scored a double-double with 29 points and 11 assists.
Lakers predicted lineup
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, LeBron James, JaVale McGee, Anthony Davis
Hawks vs Lakers Match Prediction
The Lakers' biggest weakness is that they struggle against teams with speed. Friday night they squeezed out a two-point win against the Kings, but last Sunday they lost by 9 to the Raptors. A big reason for that loss was a 21-0 fastbreak advantage in the second half for Toronto. The Lakers need to defend in transition.
The Hawks are coming off a miserable defensive effort Saturday night when the Clippers shot over 50 percent from long-range and from the field overall. The Hawks need to improve their efficiency when shooting as well, as their stats against the Clippers were sub-standard. On the season, the Hawks are shooting just over 30 percent from three-point range and are 29th in the NBA.
The Hawks should be smarting over the beat-down that the Clippers handed out to them. However, the Lakers are a strong home team and had Saturday night off, so we can expect a Lakers victory on Sunday.
