Cavaliers' Derrick Rose will miss possibly two weeks due to sprained ankle
What's the story?
ESPN NBA Staff Writer Dave McMenamin is reporting that Cleveland Cavaliers' guard Derrick Rose will miss two weeks and possibly more due to a sprained ankle.
In case you didn't know...
This past July, Rose signed a one-year $2.1 million dollar contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers after playing 64 games for the New York Knicks last season.
The heart of the matter...
Rose recently talked to ESPN to expand on the injury, and he doesn't seem too concerned about it. Take a look at his quote below:
"Just a jacked-up ankle," Rose told ESPN. "I'm just trying to figure it out, bro. Right now, it's just a jacked-up ankle. Just sore. I'm getting a lot of treatment for it, and tonight will be my first time wearing a boot. So I'll wear this, for I don't know how long, to see how it helps."
After additional tests, the Cavaliers stated that Rose will have the ankle immobilized in the boot for at least the next week before testing it further. The injury occurred on October 20th and Rose has been in and out of the lineup since.
On the season, Rose has only played 7 of the 16 games averaging 14.3 PPG on an average of 26.9 MPG.
What's next?
The Cleveland Cavaliers (9-7), without Rose, will look to continue their current four-game win streak that they're recently on when they take on the Detroit Pistons (10-5) on Monday evening.
Author's take...
Injuries for Derrick Rose are definitely not surprising. Since playing 81 games in the 2010-11 season, the most appearances for Rose since was his last year in Chicago during the 2015-16 season. That is why Cleveland signed him for so little, he's missed over half of the games this season.
