Celtics Trade Rumors Roundup, January 22nd: Bradley Beal to Celtics?
The Washington Wizards are having one of the worst seasons ever and are expected to miss the playoffs. With the franchise's face John Wall out for the season, they have been struggling to make an impact all season long.
Even though the Wizards have failed to impress for the most part of the season, All-Star Bradley Beal has been playing the best basketball of his career this year and is posting impressive numbers on a consistent basis.
Earlier this season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported this:
With Wall's season coming to an end, Beal has been dominating the trade headlines for a long time. He has been linked to almost all the contending teams this year. Boston Celtics are the latest team to be linked to Beal.
The Celtics have been struggling to find the right combination all season long and are underperforming. While everyone expected them to dominate the conference and emerge out of East as the champs, at the beginning of the season, the road has not been smooth for the team.
Even though the C's are currently placed at the fifth spot in East and are in a comfortable position to make it to the playoffs, they still do not look like the contenders to win it all in the conference.
According to Bleacher Report's Ken Berger:
With the Celtics struggling to find an identity—and defined roles for their plethora of wing players—there could be a path to a deal. Jaylen Brown, the expiring contract of Marcus Morris or Aron Baynes (2019-20 player option) and a first-round pick would have the makings of a compelling offer, according to one executive. The C's could win the East with a core of Kyrie Irving, Beal, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford. Whether the Wizards would want to help Boston is another story.
With the trade deadline right around the corner, Bradley Beal will continue to dominate the trade rumors and only time will tell us what the future holds in store.
