NBA: Chris Copeland stabbed in New York, two Atlanta Hawks players arrested
Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland and his wife Katrine Saltara were two among many injured by an attacker during an argument at 1 OAK club in Chelsea, New York, on Wednesday morning. A former New York Knick Copeland and his wife were rushed to Bellevue Hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.
When the police tried to cordon off the area to set up a crime scene, Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic of the Atlanta Hawks were booked for refusing to move away. They were charged with obstructing government administration.
The attacker, Shezoy Bleary (22) removed the knife and stabbed Copeland and his wife in the arm and leg as an argument began among the remaining few who were leaving the pub. Another woman (53) was slashed in the abdomen.
The Pacers, still fighting for final two Playoff spots in the East are in New York to face the Knicks Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Hawks, after defeating Phoenix Suns by 27 points yesterday were set to face the Nets in Brooklyn.
