Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly agree to trade deal involving Kevin Love
The Kevin Love rumours to finally be put to rest?
The suspected and predicted trade involving Kevin Love has engulfed the league with the rumours and chatter ever since the off-season began. But all that has finally been laid to rest with the two concerned teams – the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves – reportedly agreeing to a trade deal early on Thursday.
After ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst stated earlier this week that the Love to Cleveland deal was more or less done, Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the two teams are in a firm agreement. This comes as no surprise as the owner of the Timberwolves Glen Taylor had told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that a trade involving Love was imminent by 23rd or 24th of August.
The reported details of the agreement
The date coincides with the conclusion of the one month contract that the Cavaliers have signed 2014 number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins, who is expected to be part of the deal along with 2013 number one overall pick Anthony Bennett.
The report by Wojnarowski states that the Cavaliers have also agreed to trade a 2015 first-round draft pick to the Wolves. Love is expected to opt out of his contract in 2015 and then re-sign with Cleveland; the new contract is reported to be worth more than $120 million.
Wojnarowski further goes on to claim that the terms of the agreement have been in place for weeks, and that the parties involved are going to divulge all the details after 16 days, when the trade will be officially announced.
Cleveland making all the right trades
Although Cleveland would love to keep young talent Wiggins, their interest in Love is justified given the big man’s multi-dimensional game comprised of long range shooting, rebounding and passing which complements LeBron James’ game to a huge extent.
Having already signed sharp shooters Mike Miller and James Jones along with James this summer, the Cavaliers would look like runaway favourites to win the Eastern Conference title if they do bag Love.
