Colin Cowherd welcomes Nets' decision on dismissing Steve Nash as head coach: "Congratulations to Steve Nash for no longer coaching the NBA's biggest tire fire"

Steve Nash and the Brooklyn Nets made headlines on Tuesday when the pair parted ways. The news took many by surprise considering the fact that the team is less than 10 games into the season. With that being said, however, the Nets currently sit in 12th position in a stacked Eastern Conference with a record of 2-5.

Ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Chicago Bulls, Nash's departure has continued to make waves. Although there is no shortage of potential candidates to replace Nash, assistant coach Jacque Vaughn will temporarily handle coaching duties.

The way outspoken analyst Colin Cowherd sees things, the Nets are going nowhere fast. Going into this season, many predicted that the Nets would make it out of the Eastern Conference. The reality of the situation behind the scenes was far different. As Cowherd explained, Nash was at his wit's end this offseason:

"Congratulations to Steve Nash for no longer coaching the NBA's biggest tire fire. ... Steve Nash is one of the single smartest athletes I've ever interviewed in my life. He's a brilliant guy, and I'm happy that he gave it a run, I think he can coach. ... This is one of those, a coach loses a job and I'm happy for him."

The comments came on a recent episode of "The Herd with Colin Cowherd," where Cowherd spoke about the state of the Nets. The way he sees things, the Nets need to begin a rebuild and trade away their entire team with the exception of Kevin Durant. You can check out his comments in the video below:

Since taking control of coaching duties for the Nets, Steve Nash has continued to face obstacles. During his second season as coach, Nash was forced to cope with a mid-season trade that sent James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons.

Things continued to get worse as Kyrie Irving was ineligible for most of the season. With Irving sidelined and the newly acquired Ben Simmons content to sit out the remainder of the year, tensions inevitably rose.

This offseason, it was reported that Kevin Durant gave the Nets' front office an ultimatum: the duo of Nash and general manager Sean Marks or him.

As if that wasn't enough, Stephen A. Smith reported that Kyrie Irving frequently conducted his own practices. All of this, combined with the team's losing streak this season, continued to cause frustration in Brooklyn. The way Cowherd sees things, whoever takes over head coaching duties has their job cut out for them.

In his eyes, Durant has now clashed with coaches from both the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn. With the recent controversy surrounding Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons' inconsistent play, Cowherd thinks the Nets could be headed toward disaster.

The team is currently gearing up to face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
