Dallas Mavericks owner lends his plane to the Bulls
A scary incident saw the plane belonging to the Chicago Bulls malfunctioning and leaving the team with no choice but to use the plane loaned to them by Mark Cuban.
The Bulls were scheduled to fly to Indianapolis to face the Pacers, when a compressor in one the engines malfunctioned. Bill Wellington, the Bulls radio analyst said “Apparently a compressor in engine No. 3 had some trouble, and it sounded like it exploded, but I guess it’s like a jet engine backfire, which is very loud.Sparks fly out of it. It happened actually right after … the captain thrusts the engines forward and it revs up and starts to go, about three seconds after that you hear a ‘Boom!’”
He went on to say that they heard the sound as the engine was close to them, but the pilots could not. 5 minutes after the plane took off, there were two more explosions and a few people reportedly saw flames and sparks flying out. Bill Wellington said that there was a unanimous feeling of “Well, its been nice.”
The pilots reported that they could not hear or feel anything. But once they got to know the plane was malfunctioning, they turned the flight back to the O’Hare International Airport.
After the life threatening ordeal, the player were sent home. They returned the next morning and flew to Indianapolis in an chartered plane, and returned Chicago after the game.
Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, loaned his plane to the Bulls to fly to San Antonio on Monday, and to return after their game on Wednesday.
