Donovan Mitchell is a professional basketball player who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA as of March 2025. Mitchell was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2017 NBA Draft. However, he was later traded to the Utah Jazz, where he emerged as an offensive superstar. During his rookie season, Mitchell's dunks resulted in him winning the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Six-time all-star Donovan Mitchell's leadership and offensive brilliance propelled the Utah Jazz to the best regular-season record in the 2020-21 NBA season. However, despite five years of consistent regular-season success, the team failed in the playoffs. This eventually led to the decision to trade him to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, Cleveland has reached the playoff rounds in both seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24), and Mitchell is averaging 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game as of March 2025.

Before joining the NBA, Mitchell went to the University of Louisville, where he played from 2015-2017. In his sophomore season, he averaged 15.6 points, 2.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game. After his two seasons with Louisville, Mitchel was named to the First-Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference.
