Eagles fan Jalen Brunson roasts Tom Brady over his negative record: "We both beat him"
New York Knicks star and Philadelphia Eagles fan Jalen Brunson roasted NFL legend Tom Brady at the Fanatics Fest Roommates Show on Friday. While addressing the crowd, Brunson took a jab at Brady as he highlighted that both the New York Giants and the Eagles defeated him in the Super Bowl.
"The one thing me and New Yorkers don't have in common is our favorite football team –– but the one thing we do have in common is we both beat him," Brunson said while pointing towards Brady.
Jalen Brunson has been a lifelong Eagles fan due to his South Jersey roots. Despite that, he is a fan favorite in New York for his incredible performance for the Knicks which was on display during the 2023-24 NBA Playoffs.
He averaged 32.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in the postseason to lead his team to the second round. However, despite his array of spectacular performances, the Knicks were eliminated as they fell 4-3 against the Indiana Pacers.
Jalen Brunson talks about taking $113 million pay cut for Knicks
On Friday's episode of 'The Roommates Show,' Jalen Brunson opened up about taking a $113 million pay cut by signing an extension with the New York Knicks this offseason. The two-time NBA All-Star believes it was the right call as it gave the Knicks enough financial flexibility to retain their current roster and add the necessary pieces to win championships.
“It was the most money I can get at this point in time," Brunson said. "Obviously made the most sense. You obviously want to set up for obviously to be well off, like your family… But, it was kind of simple. I wanted to be here, I wanted to show that actions speak louder than just talking about stuff. And I know I want this team to be together for a long time, I want to win here.”
Brunson signed a four-year, $156 million extension with the Knicks, which is $113 million less than what he could receive next year. His sacrifice was critical for the team to retain OG Anunoby, as he signed a five-year, $212.5 million contract in this summer's free agency. It also allowed the Knicks to have enough cap room to add Mikal Bridges to their roster ahead of next season.
