Fact check: Is Michael Jordan coming out of retirement?
Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. He spent 15 seasons playing in the NBA, winning six championships and separating himself from the rest of the pack.
The Chicago Bulls legend has always been very popular, but basketball fans have been talking about him a lot lately. There are rumors that the legendary shooting guard will come out of retirement and return once again, which certainly isn't the case.
While Air Jordan isn't exactly someone we can trust to stay retired, he's not coming out of retirement. The legendary shooting guard hasn't played professional basketball for two decades and has been enjoying his time off the court.
Michael Jordan has retired three times, but there won't be a fourth time
It is quite impressive that His Airness was able to earn numerous accolades in only 15 years in the league. While playing for a decade and a half is impressive, it's important to note that Jordan had two long breaks during his career.
The 6-foot-6 guard first retired in 1993, a few months after winning his first 3-peat. Jordan decided to take a break from basketball and become a baseball player, which was shocking.
After a brief baseball career, Michael Jordan returned to the NBA and did what he does best. Shortly after, he completed another 3-peat with the Bulls, cementing his place among the all-time greats.
The basketball superstar retired once again in 1998, following his second 3-peat. It seemed that this was the end of his glorious basketball career, but that wasn't the case. Jordan came out of retirement in 2001 and spent two seasons with the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards did not have much success with MJ, missing the playoffs in both seasons. He was still great, despite turning 40 in the final season of his career. Jordan averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in the nation's capital.
Jordan's last retirement came in 2003.
Considering that he's come out of retirement twice, some basketball fans believe that Michael Jordan will do it again. However, it's important to note that the basketball Hall of Famer is 60 and likely has no interest in playing professional basketball anymore.
Before he laced up the sneakers for the Wizards, the basketball superstar made a deal to acquire an equity stake in the team. He had to sell his team once he returned to the court, however.
