George Karl agrees terms to coach Sacramento Kings

George Karl is amongst the top nine coaches in NBA history

Although the formal announcement will be made, after the agreement is finalized. However, according to several reports NBA franchise the Sacramento Kings and 2013 NBA Coach of the Year George Karl have agreed in principle to making the latter the team’s Head Coach post the All-Star break.  

Karl, who was a ESPN analyst before sitting down to talk with the Kings, is one among nine other head coaches to have won 1000 or more regular season games. He currently ranks sixth in the all-time coaching leaders with 1,131 wins.

Before heading into an association with the Kings, Karl has previously coached five other NBA teams - Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets.

Karl will be Sacramento’s third Head Coach this season and according to sources is expected to recieve a contract worth $15 million over a four year period.

Interim Head Coach Tyrone Corbin relieved of his duties

Almost three months after firing their Head Coach Michael Malone, the Sacramento Kings relieve Tyrone Corbin of interim Head Coaching duties according to General Manager Pete D’Alessandro. Nonetheless he will continue working with the organization as a advisor to the Kings front office.Corbin led the Kings to a disappointing 7-21 record during his 28 game coaching period.  

“I have the utmost respect for Tyrone as a coach and person,” said D’Alessandro. “He’s a man of great integrity, a consummate professional that managed a difficult situation with class and professionalism. I look forward to continuing to work with Tyrone moving forward.”
