Golden State Warriors progress to the 2015 NBA Finals

The victorious Golden State Warriors team

The 40-year long wait has finally ended for the Golden State Warriors. They are through to the 2015 NBA Finals after handing the Houston Rockets a 104- 90-point loss at the Oakland Arean in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals to take the series 4-1 in their favour.

As has been the case all season it as once again MVP Stephen Curry, who scored 26 points and 8 rebounds and giving him support was Harrison Barnes, who scored 24 points.

For the Rockets, it was Dwight Howard, who scored 18 points and also accounted for 16 rebounds, but it has to be said that on the night when it most mattered for his side, James Harden couldn't come to the party, as he could score just a mere 14 points

"The Bay Area's been waiting for 40 years. I think it's time”,Curry said at the end of the match.

Would feel comfortable going to war with some of them: McHale

Rockets coach Kevin McHale seemed clearly disappointed but did give credit to his side for displaying tremendous fighting qualities to reach so far.

"The guys fought hard. One thing about the team is that they were battlers, and a lot of guys in that room you feel pretty comfortable going to war with,” he said.

With Golden State progressing to the finals, it now sets up quite an intriguing contest between two superstars in today’s game- LeBron James and Stephen Curry and the co-owner of the Warriors, Joe Lacob, summed it up perfectly when he said,”I can't wait for June 4,".

Neither can we. The First game of the NBA Finals will be held in Cleveland on June 5th.
