NBA: The Golden State Warriors' limit is 28-0
Golden State Warriors continue to impress and according to what the other teams have shown until now in the NBA, Stephen Curry’s side 16-0 record start seems too small for what is likely to come.
Perhaps, the NBA Champions are lucky enough not to have yet played in this season, against opponents like Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat, who look stronger than all the others this year.
The hopeful thing for Warriors is that in the next 13 matches they will not face one of the above powerhouses, but of course, this doesn't exclude that the title holders will not lose to another team.
Regardless of how good a team is, it is very difficult to go undefeated for a long period, so according to logic, Golden State must lose quite soon.
However, if they keep on rocking the courts, then their first real obstacle is the Cleveland Cavaliers in Oakland on December 25, where they suffered their second-to-last loss, in the 2nd game of the 2014/15 finals.
This means that Golden State’s record can reach 28-0, which seems extraordinary, taking into account what happened in the previous years in the best basketball championship in the world (previous best start: 15-0 1948/49 Washington Capitols & 1993/94 Houston Rockets).
It is very interesting that Warriors’ accomplishment has already exceeded NBA limits - in the NHL, the 1993-94 Toronto Maple Leafs and 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres reeled off 10 straight wins and in the AL/NL, the ‘82 Atlanta Braves and ‘87 Milwaukee Brewers won 13 in a row- and can be compared with other popular sports in USA (In the NFL, the 2007 New England Patriots won 16 straight. In baseball, the 1884 St. Louis Maroons - who played in the Union Association - won 20 straight).
One can understand that the Warriors are in front of a huge achievement, not only in the history of basketball, but also in sports generally and they must not miss the chance to take the best advantage of it, as this kind of opportunity emerges extremely rarely.
As I see Warriors right now and after comparing them to the other teams, I don't think that their next opponents, Los Angeles Lakers (11/24), Phoenix Suns (11/27, 12/16), Sacramento Kings (11/28), Utah Jazz (11/30, 12/23), New Orleans Hornets (12/02), Toronto Raptors (12/05), Brooklyn Nets (12/06), Indiana Pacers (12/08), Boston Celtics (12/11) or Milwaukee Bucks (12/12, 12/18), are capable of beating them, apart from the Cavs that follow in their 29th game this term.
My only reserve are the away games and tiredness, but Golden State are in such form that they can do anything to beat anybody. I can understand that from the feeling I get when they are on offense: they make every shot. They just can't miss.
If Warriors stay unbeatable until the match against the Cavaliers, I don’t think that Lebron James’ ego will let them expand their record to 29-0, so their limit at the uppermost is 28-0.
