Golden State Warriors continue winning streak, beat Brooklyn Nets

The Warriors beat the Nets 107-97

The Golden State Warriors managed to extend their winning streak to 11-0 by defeating the Brooklyn Nets 107-97 going into overtime. The Warriors were playing without Klay Thomson as Brandon Rush had started instead of him. The Golden State Warriors had a poor start to the game as they were trailing 36-21 by the end of the first quarter.

The gap was reduced to two points by the end of the first half. The third quarter was in the favour of the Brooklyn Nets as they were almost running away with the game. But, the Warriors began their resurgence in the fourth quarter by pushing the game to overtime. Once, the overtime began they went on a 10-2 run which enabled them to extend their winning streak

Analysis

The Warriors had five players scoring in double figures and a triple double from Draymond Green and a double double from Andrew Bogut.Andre Iguodala made a lot of crucial plays during the late fourth quarter and in OT in order to secure the witn for the Warriors.

The Brooklyn Nets had three people scoring double figures and Jarret Jack who was one of the three Brooklyn Players to do so almost had a double double as he finished the game with 26 points and 9 assists. Thaddeus Young added 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Brooklyn Nets and Brook Lopez added 18 points.

The most intriguing aspect of this game was that Brooklyn had made only two 3-point shots out of 18 attempts where as the Warriors had shot 12 three pointer out of 34 attempts. 

Turning Point(s)

This game had a number of turning points:

Stephen Curry’s three point dagger with 5:29 left in the game:-  The Nets had missed a curcial field goal and they failed to extend their lead. Andrew Bogut grabbed the defensive rebound and gave outlet pass to Draymond Green who in turn found Steph Curry cutting across to the wing and threw a one handed cross court pass. Steph Curry had a very small time window but it was sufficient for him to make the shot and cut the nets lead to a single point.(Score line 84-83)

Stephen Curry’s double clutch layup:- With less than 5 minutes to go Stephen Curry drove past the nets defense to give warriors their first lead in the fourth quarter.

The 8-second violation:- The score line was reading 94-97 in favour of the nets with 25 seconds to go. Nets in bound the ball and the warriors surround the Jarret Jack who couldn’t pass the ball to the front court on time resulting in a Brooklyn turnover.

Andre Iguodala’s cold blodded 3 pointer:- The warriors capitalised on the nets turnover as Andre Iguodala shot a cold blodded three which tied the game at 97 apiece.

Brook Lopez’s miss:- Pandemonium broke out when Bogut, Lopez and Curry were battling for the rebound. The ball was last touched by Stephen Curry and before the inbound there was 0.05 seconds on the shot clock. The ball was inbounded towards Brook Lopez who was under the basket but, his tip was too hard as the ball fizzled out of the rim which resulted in overtime .

Andre Iguodala does a Magic Johnson:- Mid way through the over time Iguodala stole the ball from Joe Johnson and almost ran a one man fast break but when Joe Johnson and Jarret Jack gained on him, he pulled off a no look pass to Shaun Livingston for an easy slam dunk. 

The Brooklyn Nets will be hosting the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors will be hosting the Toronto Raptors in their next games.
