Horford and Aldridge claimed Players of the week honors

The Portland Trailblazers’ LaMarcus Aldridge and Atlanta Hawks’ Al Horford ware named Western and Eastern Conference Players of the week, respectively, from December 15 through December 21.

Horford led a scorching Hawks team that went 3-0 for the said week, including road wins against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets and a win at home against the Chicago Bulls. He led the Hawks’ attack offensively with a team high 18.3 ppg and filling the stat sheet with 6.7 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.67 bpg and 1.0 spg. Horford has been averaging an outstanding 60 percent clip from the field, and is ranked eighth on the Eastern Conference. Hawks has won nine of their last ten games and they are sitting on second place in the East with a 19-7 record.

Aldridge, on the other hand, has led the Trailblazers with a 4-0 record for the week. They have beaten the defending champions San Antonio Spurs twice and have registered wins over the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans. Aldridge has been on a tear as of late, posting double-double efforts in the four games that Portland has played. Aldridge ranked sixth in the West in scoring with 26.3 ppg, second in rebounds with 14.3 rpg and eighth in steals with 2.25 spg.

He had a memorable night on December 19, posting 32 points and a career-high 16 boards to score a thrilling triple overtime win over the defending Champs. The Trailblazers have a 22-6 record for the season and are placed second in the tough Western Conference.
