Clutch the Rocket Bear is the official mascot of the Houston Rockets in the NBA. He is a 7 foot tall white and red bear who wears the #00 jersey. Clutch was created in 1995 and instantly became popular amongst fans. In February 2005, Clutch was named as the fifth most recognisable mascot in sports by USA Today, and he has also won two Mascot of the Year titles, in 2005 and 2013.

Before Clutch, the Rockets’ mascot was called “Rocket Man.” He was a human who was dressed in a spacesuit and served as mascot from 1975 - 1995.

Clutch radiates hospitality and is a hardworking mascot that makes many appearances for the team. Every mascot is there to get the crowd more active and involved in the game. According to online sources, Robert Boudwin played the Clutch the Rocket Bear from 1995 - 2016. However, no information is available as to who is playing the mascot these days. Boudwin performed in over 1,000 games and over 6,000 shows in his career. He was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006.

Not only does Clutch entertain and charge up the Rockets fans, he also takes part in educational programs. He has made several appearances in schools to help spread the Rockets culture amongst children. Clutch even has a statue made after him, signifying a testament of his importance.
