How have Draymond Green's stats on the offensive end declined with age?

Draymond Green is now playing in his 11th season with the Golden State Warriors. Having entered the NBA in 2012 at the age of 22, Green was always known for being a defensive player. He won the Defensive Player of the Year award in the 2016-17 season when he averaged career-highs in steals and blocks. He also had two steals and 1.4 blocks per game that year.

Most of the scoring was assigned to his teammates Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, but that didn't mean Green didn't have any offensive moves in his repertoire. When it mattered most, Green can knock down big-time shots. Despite being an unreliable jump shooter, there have been occasions when he has hit some long-distance shots.

However, he was never hit the 20-point mark in scoring in his career. Nevertheless, Green's efficiency on the court has helped him become an All-Star four times. So, what are his numbers at the offensive end of the court. Here's a look at Green's offensive figures and how they declined over time.

Looking at the stats sheets, it's safe to say that Draymond Green reached his peak at the age of 25. That lasted till his second championship season with the Golden State Warriors. During their first championship run, Green averaged 14 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. This was his highest-scoring season and also his first All-Star year.

Green is mostly renowned for his defensive play rather than offense. He quickly proved that defense was his main priority, as his scoring average dropped to 10.2 points per game the next year. In his second title run with the Warriors, he put up 11 points per game. The 2017-18 season marked Green's last season where he recorded double digits in scoring.

After the 2018-19 season, Draymond Green has averaged only 7.4 points per game. However, that's because he hasn't taken many shot attempts, as he has only attempted to shoot the basketball 3.9 times per game. Since that season, he has not averaged 5 shot attempts per game in a season.

Draymond Green is currently averaging 51.8% FG. Now at 32, fans only see him take efficient shots. It's clear that Green would rather focus his energy on defense just like how Dennis Rodman did it back in the day.
