“I was like dog, shut up” - Paul George was in disbelief to learn Patrick Beverley's high school scoring average
Patrick Beverley recently received praise from Paul George. Beverley has established himself as one of the league's most outspoken floor generals over the years. On both ends of the court, Beverley is constantly talking, both to teammates and to opponents.
In the case of teammates, he's holding players accountable for defensive rotations, as he recently did with Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic. As Paul George recently pointed out, despite Beverley being known for his defense in the NBA, he was known for his scoring in high school.
"Did y'all know Pat Bev averaged like 40 in high school? Like he was an offensive player in high school. When he told me that I was like dog shut up. Averaged more than I did in high school. I saw a YouTube clip of him overseas and dog he was like windmillin and like catching lobs and like a bucket!"

Patrick Beverley’s friendship with Paul George
As Paul George also pointed out in the clip, he knows that having Patrick Beverley guarding him means he’s in for a long night at the office. Between the trash talk and the veteran guard’s hustle, he’s constantly creating problems for offensive players - even his friends like Paul George.
Prior to Beverley taking his talents to Minnesota and then the LA Lakers, there was a point where he had become a staple of the LA Clippers. Most notably, Beverley and a young Clippers team gave the Golden State Warriors a run for their money in the Playoffs, earning plenty of respect despite losing the series.
As the team evolved and saw the arrivals of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, Beverley developed a good friendship with both men. As Beverley pointed out on an episode of his Pat Bev Pod with Rone, he and Kawhi Leonard text every day, and Paul George is probably his best friend.
"Me and [Kawhi], we text almost every day. 6:00 AM morning, he sends me a picture of him in the gym, 'Oh, I beat you today.' I'm pissed, the whole time I'm on the way, 15 minutes from my workout. But just the fact that he's 20-30 minutes in front of me, he wins the day...” “PG is probably one of my best friends. I was at his wedding this summer.”
