In Pictures: Marcus Jordan tours inside Michael Jordan-owned 23XI NASCAR team's HQ
Michael Jordan is a man of many talents. He has expanded his businesses and created a multifaceted empire after his basketball career. Jordan was once the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets and has delved into many sports business ventures. In 2021, he started his own NASCAR race team alongside NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin.
The venture has been successful. The team now has two cars racing full time in the top-level Cup Series. Both cars have ties to Jordan.
The first car was the No. 23, a reference to the iconic jersey number of Michal Jordan. The second car runs as the No. 45, a reference to the baseball jersey number Jordan wore when playing in the minor leagues. He also briefly wore No. 45 with the Chicago Bulls. Those two cars have won six Cup Series races since the team’s debut.
The team also has a sprawling headquarters in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina. Michael’s son and reality TV star Marcus recently toured the racing team’s headquarters in the Tarheel State.
Marcus posted multiple stories documenting his tour of the fancy facility. He added snapshots of some of the cars, stunning rooms, and festive drinks enjoyed along the way. Check out the images from Marcus Jordan’s Instagram stories below.
Looking Back at Michael Jordan’s first NASCAR Cup win
Michael Jordan hoisted his first trophy as a NASCAR owner earlier this season. It was the sixth win in 23XI Racing history but the first time Jordan was in attendance to celebrate the victory.
Tyler Reddick won the Geico 500 at Talladega in April. It is one of the most important races on the Cup circuit and is known as the fastest race of the year.
All five previous wins for the team came without Jordan in attendance. His co-owner Denny Hamlin often joked His Airness was bad luck.
"Denny keeps saying I was bad luck when I came to the track, but today we proved him wrong. As you know, this is the NBA playoffs right now. For me, this is like an NBA playoff game. For us to win a big race like this, it means so much to me,” Michael Jordan said after the win.
It was the third win for Tyler Reddick since jumping in Michael Jordan’s No. 45 car. He joined the team in 2023. He locked up a playoff spot in the 2024 season with the win at Talladega.
Reddick is currently sixth in the Cup standings. Jordan’s co-owner still races for Joe Gibbs Racing and is on top of the standings. The other Jordan 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace races in the No. 23 car. He sits in 13th in the current standings. Wallace will look for a win to ensure both of Jordan’s cars are in the season-ending playoff chase.
