Is Bronny James playing tonight against Cleveland Cavaliers? Latest on Lakers guard's status for Summer League game (July 18)

Bronny James is available to play for the LA Lakers as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers for their fourth NBA 2025 Summer League matchup on Thursday, with tipoff set for 9 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally aired on ESPN and will also be broadcast locally on Bally Sports Ohio. Fans can also stream the game live via the NBA League Pass.

Bronny is coming off his best outing yet as the Lakers clinched their first summer league victory after they defeated the Atlanta Hawks 87-86 on Wednesday. The 55th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft recorded his first double-digit point tally with 12 points, one rebound, and one steal in the game while shooting 5-of-11 from the field, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

With Bronny finally finding his shots, the Lakers management will be hoping to have a string of such games from LeBron James' son, and that starts on Thursday against the Cavs.

How has Bronny James fared in the NBA Summer League so far?

Bronny James has a tough job living up to the expectations thrown at him because of his father. Though he is not among the highly drafted players in the 2024 NBA Draft, he is definitely among the most talked about.

Bronny made his debut for the LA Lakers when they faced the Sacramento Kings to kick off their California Classic Summer League. He concluded his first outing on the NBA stage with four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal while shooting 22.2% from the field as the Lakers fell 108-94 to the Kings.

After playing in five summer league games, the 55th pick is currently averaging 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 28.6% from the field and 10% from 3-point range.

Although his team is eliminated from the Summer League title contention, Bronny James will look to help the LA Lakers clinch their second win as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.
