Is Jared McCain playing tonight against against Portland Trail Blazers? Latest on 76ers rookie's status for Summer League game (July 15)
Jared McCain is available to play against the Portland Trail Blazers on July 15. This will be the first time the Philadelphia 76ers will face the Blazers and a team from the Western Conference in this Summer League. The team has played just one game this summer season.
McCain played in the first game for the 76ers when they faced the Detroit Pistons on July 14 at the Thomas & Mack Center. However, the 16th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft had a tough night.
In 20 minutes, McCain scored 11 points; however, he didn’t have a good shooting night. McCain made only four of 14 shots from the field and one of six shots from the 3-point line. McCain also registered six rebounds and two steals in the game.
The Sixers rookie will look forward to getting in his groove for his second outing in the Summer League.
McCain can become a defensive liability, especially against the big men of the league. However, he can develop himself into a great wing defender. McCain is also a good 3-point shooter, which can come in handy for the Sixers next season.
What happened to Jared McCain?
Jared McCain entered the NBA Draft completely healthy this year. He has played only one game so far in the 2024 Summer League and ended the game without any injury concerns.
Earlier, in March, McCain collided with his Duke teammate Jaylen Blakes before the game. He was bleeding from the area right above his right eye. After getting the stitches, McCain returned to the game in the starting lineup against North Carolina State in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal.
