Is Lonzo Ball playing tonight against Memphis Grizzlies? Latest on Chicago Bulls star's status | (Oct. 28)

Lonzo Ball will play in the Chicago Bulls' fourth game of the 2024-25 season against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. The Bulls have a clean injury report for their third road game and Lonzo is expected to continue leading the charge off the bench, contributing to the offense with the second unit.

The star point guard has played in two of the Bulls' first three games this season. The former Lakers player missed the game against the Milwaukee Bucks, as it was the first game in the team’s first back-to-back of the season. Chicago plans to rest Lonzo for one game in each back-to-back set, as the former UCLA standout recently returned from a career-threatening left knee injury.

Lonzo is still working to find his rhythm, as he has looked a bit out of sync in the two games he’s played so far. The former New Orleans Pelicans star is averaging four points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 turnovers per game, shooting 30% from the field, including 25% from beyond the arc.

Bulls coach expects Lonzo to contribute

Lonzo Ball made his return to professional basketball after 1,007 days during the preseason, bringing a spark to the Bulls' offense off the bench. Coach Billy Donovan is confident that Lonzo will make significant contributions to the team’s success as the season progresses and is committed to giving him every opportunity to do so.

"I think he would be playing because he can help you win,” Donovan said before the regular season tipped off. "When I watch him out there, there’s no question he can contribute and be a positive.
"Now how long he can do it in terms of consecutive minutes and how he will respond game to games; that remains to be seen. In fairness to him, how do you help him in his career by not playing him?"
