Is Luka Doncic playing tonight against Minnesota Timberwolves for Game 3? Latest on Mavericks 5x All-Star's status (May 26)

Luka Doncic will play in the upcoming Game 3 of the Dallas Mavericks' Western Conference final series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. His involvement in the contest was earlier listed as questionable.

Doncic has played all postseason games for the Mavericks this season. In Game 2 of the ongoing series, the Mavericks star drained a clutch 3-pointer along with a triple-double performance (32 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists) to lead the team up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

What happened to Luka Doncic?

Luka Doncic has been dealing with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness throughout the playoffs. Despite the injury, Doncic has not missed a single playoff game and is averaging a playoff career-high 41.9 minutes per game.

The five-time NBA All-Star previously opened up about the injury after the Mavericks eliminated the LA Clippers in the first-round playoff series.

“I don’t think it’s going to get better before I get some rest. That’s a lot of minutes. Maybe the summer," Doncic told to media.

Though he is often slow to get back up when he hits the floor during games, Doncic's performance doesn't seem to be affected much due to the injuries, as he leads the Mavericks in their quest for the championship title.

Luka Doncic's stats vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Luka Doncic has played 15 career games against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the regular season and won nine of them. He has averaged 24.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game against the Timberwolves in the regular season.

The ongoing series marks Doncic's first meeting with the Timberwolves in the playoffs. With a 2-0 playoff record versus the Timberwolves, he is averaging 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 10.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the series ahead of Game 3.

The five-time All-NBA player averaged 36.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 10.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the two games he played against the Timberwolves in the 2023–24 regular season.

The Timberwolves had a 3-1 record against the Mavericks in the regular season. However, Doncic missed two of those games, which Minnesota capitalized on.

Luka Doncic and the fifth-seed Mavericks will look to extend their lead to 3-0 with a win over the third-seed Timberwolves at home in the upcoming Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.
