Is Paul George playing tonight against Brooklyn Nets? Exploring Philadelphia 76ers superstar's status for preseason game (Oct. 16)

Paul George will miss the Philadelphia 76ers' penultimate preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The nine-time NBA All-Star has been sidelined for the team's remaining two preseason games and is likely to miss the first few regular season games due to a "bone bruise" in his left knee.

George sustained the injury during Philadelphia's 104-89 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. The former NBA Most Improved Player is scheduled to be reevaluated in one week.

The veteran forward appeared to be in significant pain after hyperextending his left knee while defending Atlanta's Jalen Johnson. George immediately left the game and did not return to the court.

Despite this recent injury setback, George remains optimistic, stating he is "not too concerned" and hopes to make his return to the court sooner rather than later.

"I felt that it hyperextended, and immediately it was, all right, I need to get taken out and (looked at), but if you ask me, I’m not too concerned about it," George told The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Sixers coach Nick Nurse provided an update on his star forward on Tuesday, confirming that George remains in good spirits despite his recent injury setback.

"PG was here today," Nurse said on Tuesday. "Got looked at again. Everything checks out okay. They are going to do some further imaging this afternoon, see if there's anything else.
"He’s in good spirits. A number of the vets didn’t practice today, coming off of a late night. But we’ll see what happens with imaging."

Before his injury, George appeared in two preseason games for Philadelphia, averaging 15.5 points while shooting 50% from beyond the arc.
