Is Paul George playing tonight against Phoenix Suns? Latest on Philadelphia 76ers superstar's status (Nov. 4)
Paul George is set to make his official debut for the Philadelphia 76ers in their game against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, George has completed his rehabilitation and will take the court for Philadelphia after missing the first five games of the season due to a bone bruise in his left knee, sustained during a preseason game on October 14.
"Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George is expected to make his season debut on Monday vs. the Phoenix Suns, barring any setbacks, sources tell ESPN," Shams said in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
The Sixers are eager for their superstars' return, as the team has struggled in the absence of Paul George and Joel Embiid, who is managing a left knee injury. Nick Nurse's team currently sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 1-5 record through five games.
Sixers coach thrilled with George and Embiid's return
In the offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers made a significant investment by signing Paul George to a four-year, $211.6 million contract, aiming to strengthen their championship aspirations. With a powerhouse roster featuring Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers have assembled a formidable 'Big 3', at least on paper.
However, Philadelphia’s primary challenge will be ensuring their top players spend enough time together on the court to develop chemistry and cohesion.
After George and Embiid fully returned to practice last Friday, coach Nick Nurse expressed his excitement about having his key pieces finally integrated into the team's plans.
"First of all, it's good," Nurse told reporters. "It lets us, kind of, we're just really like a normal day at the office practice-wise, which is great, and it's just such a good step moving forward, right? That's also positive, right? So it gives us some more bodies out there.
"We can move some things around. We can get some subs in, subs out, just more like normal, but certainly a step in the right direction." he added.
