Is Scotty Pippen Jr. playing tonight against New Orleans Pelicans? Exploring Grizzlies guard's status for Summer League game (July 18)
Scotty Pippen Jr. and the Memphis Grizzlies face the New Orleans Pelicans at 6 p.m. EDT on Thursday in Pavilion, Las Vegas. The game will broadcast nationally on NBA TV and locally on Bally Sports New Orleans and grindcitymedia.com. Fans can also stream the game on NBA League Pass.
The Grizzlies have been dominant in the NBA 2K Summer League with three out of three wins. When they go for their fourth win on Thursday, they should have the services of Scottie Pippen Jr. The guard has been prolific so far in leading Memphis to the top of the standings and hasn’t missed a game yet.
Memphis has had convincing wins so far. First, the Grizzlies dominated the Sacramento Kings 103-83 on Friday. After that, they got the better off of the Dallas Mavericks 108-88 on Monday. Their most recent game was a close 104-98 win against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
The Memphis Grizzlies will be playing the second game of a back-to-back against a struggling Pelicans side. New Orleans has lost all three of its games in Las Vegas.
How has Memphis Grizzlies’ Scotty Pippen Jr. played in the Summer League so far?
Scotty Pippen Jr. has been prolific in the three games so far. He averages 20.0 points, 6.7 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.0 rebounds. He is shooting 53.8%, including 30.0% from the 3-point line and 83.3% from the charity stripe.
Scotty Pippen Jr. can be a key contributor for the Grizzlies in the upcoming season. Last season, he played in just 21 games, averaging 12.9 points, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals. With Ja Morant expected to be healthy for 2024-25, Pippen could be the perfect backup point guard.
With players such as Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart and Zach Edey on their roster, the Grizzlies could make some serious noise in the upcoming season. Injuries plagued the team to a 27-55 finish in 2023-24. The year before, Memphis finished second in the West with a 51-31 record. If healthy, a similar finish can be expected in 2023-24.
