Is Steph Curry playing tonight against Clippers? Latest on Warriors 2xNBA MVP's status (Oct. 27)
Steph Curry will play in the Golden State Warriors' first home game of the 2024-25 NBA regular season against the LA Clippers on Sunday. The Warriors have a clean injury report, giving coach Steve Kerr full access to his roster, including superstar Curry.
There was some concern about Curry’s fitness before Golden State’s previous game against the Utah Jazz on Friday, as he was listed as questionable with a right hip contusion. However, the four-time NBA champion pushed past the discomfort and led the team to victory over the Jazz.
In his first two games with the Warriors this season, Curry has averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.0 steals. The former NBA Finals MVP is shooting 36.7% from the field, including 35.0% from beyond the arc.
Limited workload for Steph Curry in previous two games
Steph Curry has had a lighter workload in the Warriors' first two wins, as rotational players took on much of the heavy lifting. The Warriors secured their first two victories with a combined 77-point differential, allowing Curry to play under 30 minutes in both games. For the first time in his NBA career, the Warriors superstar played under 30 minutes in back-to-back games to open a regular season.
A key factor behind Curry’s limited workload has been Buddy Hield’s strong start to the season. Through two games, the veteran guard is averaging 24.5 ppg, shooting 69.2% from the field, including an impressive 75.0% from beyond the arc. His production off the bench has allowed Curry to enjoy more rest on the sidelines.
"The guy just loves to play basketball," Curry said about Hield after the Warriors' win over the Trail Blazers. "He loves to hoop, loves to be in the gym. He's got a great personality.
"Without Klay [Thompson], you needed shooting, we needed shooting anyway. We know what the skillset is, we know what he's capable of. It's been a very seamless transition so far." Curry added.
