What happened to Zach Edey?
Zach Edey suffered a sprained left ankle during the Memphis Grizzlies matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 17 and has been sidelined ever since, missing 11 straight games.
According to the latest update, Edey is expected to return earlier than initially expected. The rookie was seen on the court during the Grizzlies' practice session on Wednesday and coach Taylor Jenkins gave an update on the Edey return timeline.
"I think he's going to get some more contact in the next couple of days, maybe a play group on Friday and then we'll evaluate towards the end of the week," Jenkins said.
So far in the season, Zach Edey is averaging 11.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 20.1 minutes of playtime per game. The 7-foot-4 center also shot 61.0% from the field including 60.0% from beyond the arc in the 14 games.
Brooklyn Nets vs Memphis Grizzlies: Preview
