Kyrie Irving fired back at Barstool sports on Twitter after they posted a meme accusing the Brooklyn Nets guard of ruining the teams he plays for. Irving doesn't usually clap back at trolls on social media, but on this occasions, he was angry enough to respond.

Barstool sports posted a video meme of The Joker from the movie 'The Dark Knight' (2008) portrayed by the late Heath Ledger. In the video, the Joker exits 'Gotham General Hospital' after blowing it up.

By using Kyrie Irving's name in the meme, Barstool sports insinuated that the Nets guard wrecks every organization on his way out.

For context, Kyrie Irving ended his Cleveland stint on bad terms and ruined his relationship with LeBron James. He moved to Boston and that experiment was a disaster as well. He finally joined the Brooklyn Nets, but has struggled there as well.

Irving responded to the Barstool post and asked them to add "NBA champion and gold medalist" ahead of his name to show him respect. He commented:

"*NBA champion and *Gold medalist * Kyrie Irving. Just thought the statement needed a correction as y’all continue to make money off of my NAME and countless others."

Irving has always hated the media who defame athletes without consequences. He called them "pawns" after being fined by the NBA for failing to comply with the league's media requirements.

Kyrie Irving has put an end to speculation about his future by opting in to his $36.7 million player option. Irving has missed more games than he has played during his time in Brooklyn, but that has not prevented him from committing to the Nets for one final season.

Irving staying with the team could mean Kevin Durant will not depart either. With Seth Curry, Ben Simmons, Joe Harris, LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Drummond also on the roster, the Nets will look to make a run to the title next season.

On paper, they look like a playoff team and if everyone stays healthy, they can certainly aim for the NBA title.
