Kevin Garentt believes Thon Maker will be MVP one day

What's the story?

Future Hall of Famer, Kevin Garnett, believes that Thon Maker is an MVP in the making.

In case you didn't know...

Kevin Garnett claimed MVP honors in 2004 and was also a 15-time All-Star, 12-time All-Defensive player, and 9-time All-NBA talent over his 21 seasons in the league. He also led the Boston Celtics to a championship and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.

The heart of the matter...

Giannis Antetokounmpo has come on his own this season and has impressed everybody with his length and versitality, but the retired superstar thinks that Thon Maker has all the talent in him to be named the league's Most Valuable Player one day as he told Bleacher Reports' Jonathan Abrams that "Thon is going to be the MVP of the league one day. Mark it down. He has the bones. He has the appetite to be able to chase something like that."

The 41-year-old has worked out with both the players and sees a reflection of himself in the Bucks center. "Thon Maker reminds me a lot of myself," he said. "He loves the game. He's a young, exuberant athlete who has a lot of tools - he has touch; he has agility; he has really good feet. He has a really good shot from three-point all the way up to 19 to 21 feet. He has very good bones, as we say."

Maker, in his sophomore campaign, averages 4.3 points on 37.9 percent shooting from the field and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc along with 2.3 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game.

What's next?

Maker and the BucksĀ (8-8) will begin a four-game road trip, playing West teams, in Phoenix on Wednesday night.

Author's take...

Its a long way for Thon Maker to be named as the leagues' Most Valuable Player (MVP), but that is some compliment from the future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett. It's a testament to the young kid's talent, potential, work ethic and drive.
