Kevin 'The Baddest' Durant features in new Nike commercial
Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has been billed as the NBA's baddest player in the new Nike commercial. The American sports goods manufacturing giant launced their new basketball shoes 'KD7 35000', named after Durant.
The new 'KD 7 35000' was promoted in a commercial featuring the NBA's Most Valuable Player - Kevin Durant. The 6 foot 9 forward recorded his career-best figures of averaging 32 points-per-game last season. Near the end of 2013, Durant surpassed NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan's record for most consecutive games scoring at least 25 points with 41.
But the new ad does not care to focus on his career stats, but instead the 'bad boy' persona that Durant potrays. "The best? You can spend all day debating that. But the baddest player in the league? There's only one answer to that. Kevin Durant. #THEBADD35T," confirms the new Nike commercial.
The commercial also features NBA legends like George Gervin, Chris Mullin and Charles Oakley who also accept that the baddest NBA player to walk on the planet, is definitely Kevin Durant.
Durant is arguably one of the fastest players in the league, no doubts about it. And Nike celebrates their lightning-fast face of the brand, with their new shoes. The 'KD7 35000' is named after Durant and also references the average temperature of a lightning strike.
Nike designer Leo Chang revealed that the newly designed shoes are inspired by Durant and tell his story through them. The forefoot strap includes the names of his mother, grandmother, father and brother. The outsole features a silhouette of Maryland, his home state and a shoutout to Durant's childhood coach, Chucky.
Although the KD7 35000 design was the main shoe model launched by Nike, they will alsocome up with more shoes in the same KD7 series keeping in mind their customers. The newer designs of shoes for the United States customers will be launched by Nike on American Independence Day - July 4.
Last month, he was named the KIA NBA Most Valuable Player for the season 2013-14.
