From the day Anthony Davis' agent Rich Paul told the Pelicans organization, that his client has no intention of signing a contract extension if offered, the Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Davis.

It is a well-known fact that the Lakers want to win NOW with LeBron James as the captain of the team. With age catching up to the King, no one knows how many more years he will play the game of basketball.

The whole reason the Lakers signed LeBron for a 4-year, $153.3 million was so that they can convince a top five superstar in the league to come play alongside him. Davis has been with the franchise from day one and has transitioned into a superstar posting eye-catching numbers.

Even though 'The Brow' has enjoyed success at a personal level, the same cannot be said about the team's success.

The Pelicans only made it to the postseason twice with Davis on the team and he was the best player on the team on both these occasions.

The 25-year-old is a walking double-double and rarely fails to perform. The fans have made it clear on several occasions that the forward needs some help. Unfortunately, the Pelicans could not sign any stars.

LeBron James is a huge star and anyone would be willing to play alongside him. Anthony Davis is no different and he would love to share the court with the 34-year-old. So the moment Rich Paul notified the Pelicans' organisation, the Lakers' front office went to work. However, Lakers fans, we have bad news for you.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

The Pels' GM Dell Demps was not impressed by the Lakers' first offer. Similar insights were provided even by ESPN's Brian Windhorst:

"From what I know, from sources have told me, the Pelicans are not interested. They’re not interested in any of it. They’re not interested in two first-round picks and all four young players. They don’t like the Lakers’ offer."
