Lakers Trade Rumors Roundup, January 20th: LeBron likes Instagram post, Carmelo Anthony to Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers continue to be in the trade rumors because of their pursuit of Anthony Davis. While the 25-year-old has been the cornerstone of all the Lakers' rumors this season, there are others stars like Carmelo Anthony who continue to be linked to the team.
Earlier in November, the Houston Rockets' general manager Daryl Morey announced that Houston would be parting ways with Carmelo Anthony after just 10 games. Carmelo has been away from the team since then and with Feb 7 trade deadline approaching sooner than later, there are rumors swirling surrounding the 10-time All-Star.
In case you missed it, last month, when the Los Angeles Lakers visited Orlando for a game against the Magic, LeBron James expressed his desire to play alongside Carmelo Anthony.
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick:
"The Lakers, who have a full roster and would have to waive someone to sign him if he was waived, continue to be tied to Anthony more than any other team. But according to a Lakers source, the fact that the roster is full is not a small obstacle. Not only is it unclear how they would clear the roster spot to add Anthony, or if there’s a possible trade to be made there with the Rockets, but a source close to James said Anthony’s conditioning and the overall state of his game are considered key factors here in terms of convincing the Lakers to add the player who had the worst season of his career with the Thunder and wasn’t any better with the Rockets."
However, the story does not end here. Last night, LeBron James liked this particular Instagram post.
A Twitter user was quick to notice the fact that James liked the Instagram post.
Is this going to be the season where the first overall pick and the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft finally play on the same team? Only time will tell.
