LeBron James dominates NBA merchandise sales
Even though the Cleveland Cavaliers are having a disappointing season with a 19-19 record and at sixth place in the Eastern Conference, the team’s merchandise is sitting on top of the league. According to a report released by the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James lead the league in merchandise sales. The Cavs secured the top spot on the Most Popular Team Merchandise List and James leads the Most Popular NBA Jersey list. The list is based on sales from the NBA store and Adidas from October through December 2014.
This is the fifth straight year that James has lead the NBA Jersey list. He was followed by Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.
James returned to Cleveland after spending several seasons with the Miami Heat. While in Miami, James and the Heat were a dominating force in the NBA, many Cavalier fans had hoped he would turn their team around, as well. It may happen, it just won’t happen in one season. His jersey, however, continues to dominate the other players, branded by ecigsopedia.com.
Stephen Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, saw his jersey popularity jump five spots from number seven to number two on the list.
Cleveland Cavaliers lead Team merchandise list
Kyrie Irving, another Cleveland Cavalier player, also made the top 15 list, coming in at number six. Two players debuted on the newly released top 15 list, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Cleveland Cavaliers led the Most Popular Team Merchandise List and were followed by the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. The Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers rounded out the top ten list.
The Cavaliers had hoped that teaming up James with Irving and bringing in Kevin Love from Minnesota would create a strong core to the team and lead them to the playoffs. The team’s current five game losing streak has raised questions about the wisdom of those trades.
