LeBron James to feature in a comic with zombies

It’s always zombies.

LeBron James will have a zombie Shane Battier as a teammate, go Iron man by making his own Bionic legs, learn to fly, get cloned, etc etc. The usual comic book stuff. In a tie up between ESPN and Marvel Comics, LeBron James the player who is seemingly a superhero in real life, will actually be a superhero of sorts in a comic book series which will accompany ESPN The Magazine’s NBA Preview issue.

Not one, not two, not three, and so on till seven titles. LeBron James’s famous proclamation prior to taking the floor with the Miami Heat will serve as the main storyline of this comic book series where LeBron undertakes a heroic, epic voyage to win those rings. More unlikely than all those Marvel style comic book storylines of James flying, getting cloned by a stray strand of DNA which Pat Riley stole etc. is that he will supposedly win the final ring with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The zombie part comes in when LeBron loses Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh due to luxury tax implications and has to build a new core including a zombie Shane Battier. I like that with all the outrageous stuff that Marvel found good to include here, they actually found a basketball related reason to explain the loss of two teammates. Also Battier being undead, his salary doesn’t count against the cap space. I half expected to see Bosh being picked up by an alien spaceship with his Dinosaur roots and Wade to turn into The Flash. Missed opportunity here ESPN. You have by some miracle of a coincidence a teammate of your title character with an ages old nickname of one of your comic book heroes. How much of a stretch would it be to actually include said comic book character? Also I hope they actually put in Super Mario for Mario Chalmers and and reveal Erik Spoelstra as being an evil, evil minion bred in the basement of Pat Riley.

The plot premise is actually interactive: “We build to the final moment where LeBron has a decision to make, where, with the clock winding down, he has to decide, does he shoot, or does he pass? Of course, the eternal question of his career. This creates our cliffhanger that invites readers to go online to vote for their favorite ending.”- said Ty Wenger, ESPN magazine editor.

Just maybe not in real life, LeBron will actually get his 7 rings in a comic book. Missed opportunity here LeBron, you could have gone up to nine, then forever be compared to Sauron and his 9 rings to rule them all. That would open the door for Gandalf to pop in here in this comic as well.
